Shirinai: Winds Of Change Arc 2

Due to my family's ability to speak with the dead, we were chosen to preserve the balance of life and death in the Village of Death. Because of my ability to enter purgatory and control the souls, I was given the job of traveling and helping those who weren't meant to die, and help those who had not passed, pass. This particular incident; someone was disturbing the graves of a lot of recently deceased souls. So I went to the graveyard with Kia to investigate. "Why did you bring me with you again?" Kia asked as we walked down the path in the graveyard. "Well, if you had listened in the beginning Kia there might be a Sin here." I reminded. Really, I just didn't want to tell her Gary arranged for her to come with me just yet. "How do you know?" she asked. I was going to answer but a spirit flew up from behind a grave and to me "There's someone here. We are unsure who it is but they are using a basket to 'harvest' us." It said. My mind instantly thought of Gluttony. "Gluttony's here." I warned Kia. Her little eyes inspected our surroundings. Although the graveyard was cloaked in the darkness of night, she looked around as if though she could see perfectly. "If it was Gluttony we would know. He's messy." Kia answered. We walked further in, all of the spirits were crying for help from within their graves, they were scared. There were several dug up graves and open coffins. We walked until we reached the Shrine of The Dead. It was a huge statue of a young woman with a pot of holy water in her hands. I knelt down to pay respect as I should, when Kia grabbed me and yanked me down; an arrow shot passed my face. "She's there in the trees!" Kia pointed to the trees over lapping the graveyard. There was a girl in the tree with a bow and the arrow aimed for my face. She was a thick girl with long black hair, light skin and tall. She wore a black mask that covered half of her face except her right eye, and she was dressed in a thick black leather coat. "I'll get her!" Kia said. Her little hand glowed green. "Kia, no! Just get the basket on her back!" I told her. The girl in the tree raised her bow and shot two arrows at Kia. She swept to the side and raised her hand. A branch from the tree shot out and knocked the basket from the girl's back. I got up called out to her "Rain!" She looked shocked. "You know her?" Kia asked. I took a step closer to the tree the girl stood in. Rain looked down at the basket then tossed a smoke pellet and disappeared. Kia looked confused. She impressed me with her ability control to the Wood Style; she was so young to have such mastery over it. "That was...Rain, Zain's little sister" I answered. I walked over to pick up the basket but a huge root came out of the ground, wrapped around it and gave it to me. I took the basket in astonishment and pried it open. 3 spirits came flying out and returned to their graves; it felt good to know they had been freed. "Rain was going to take those souls to Gluttony so he could eat them." I said. Kia came to my side "I know, Ren told me about Rain. How she was kidnapped and brain washed by Gluttony as a child. And how Zain spends most of his time getting stronger to kill Gluttony and save his sister." she said. She looked so sad; Gluttony had also eaten her parents. I couldn't imagine how she felt about that but she definitely isn't the same little girl we found in the mountains. "We saved those souls; is our mission complete?" She asked. It was time to do as Gary had asked me to. "No," I said as I destroyed the basket that once imprisoned the souls "there's more. Take a seat on a head stone." The young girl raised her eyebrows at my orders but did as I said. I took a long deep breath "Do you know why Gary and Ren infused you with their Water and Earth chakra to give you Wood Style?"" I asked. Her big green eyes looked down then at me and she answered "No." "Well I'm going to tell you but I have to start with the Tailed Beast War first."

"Around 20 years ago the Tailed Beasts roamed free around the ninja world. They began to fight with each other, destroyed villages, crops, and killed hundreds of people. This was called the Tailed Beast War. The Beast War lasted a year before the 8 largest villages got tired of the destruction and decided to do something about it. Together the Sand, Death, Mist, Toxin, Lightning, Earth, Dark, and Fire village created the Ninja Tribunal; a group where two representing ninja from each village came together to decide what to do about the Tailed Beasts. Two of the members the tribunal being Gary's parents for the Earth Village and another two are mine. Together they came up with the 'Great Beast Extraction'. This was a plan to send a Sealing team from each village to extract the Physical Chakra from the Tailed Beasts. Without the Physical Chakra, the Beast would only have it's Spiritual Chakra thus meaning it couldn't stay in this world and would be sealed away in it's own dimension. This would separate the Beasts from our world and each other. They would seal the Physical Chakra away in a baby and never tell them to avoid any chances of them becoming future terrorist; these babies would be called Avatars.

The Sand Village chose Sorie Keer to extract and seal One Tailed Shukaku's Sand Chakra in her niece. Nobody knew Sorie was pregnant and in the battle with Shukaku, her whole team was killed but she managed to extract the chakra; sealing away the raccoon-dog in it's Sand Dimension. Instead of sealing the Sand Chakra in her newborn niece, she sealed it within herself, giving the unborn Destiny the purified Wind Chakra. Making Sorie the Avatar of Sand and Destiny the Avatar of Wind; both from Shukaku. The Tribunal listed Sorie as a Renegade Ninja for this.

The Mist Village chose elder Erin Jia to extract and seal Three Tailed Isonade's Water Chakra in his newborn granddaughter Ren Jia. He successful extracted the turtle's chakra and sealed the beast in it's Water Dimension. Unfortunately Ren was born anemic and sickly so her body couldn't handle the of the Beast's chakra being sealed in her. Her grandfather turned into Life Chakra and gave his life to save his granddaughter's. Making Ren the Avatar of Water from Isonade.

The Toxin Village chose Ling Ara to extract and seal Four Tailed Sokou's Toxin Chakra in a newborn orphan named Asaso Garr. She successfully extracted the cocktrice's chakra and sealed the beast in it's Toxin Dimension. The Toxin Chakra was sealed inside Asaso. Sadly, Asaso was also the victim of cruel experiments by the Toxin Village. Sokou's Avatar of Toxin was labelled a Renegade Ninja when he revolted and fled the village.

The Lightning Village chose Clyde Razen to extract and seal Six Tailed Raijuu's Lightning Chakra into newborn Miso Soupo. He successfully extracted the weasel's chakra and sealed the beast away in it's Lightning Dimension. The Lightning Chakra was sealed Miso Soupo and he was made the Avatar of Lightning from Raijuu.

The Earth Village chose Lene Takamaru, Gary's sister, to extract and seal Seven tailed Kaku's Earth Chakra into newborn Gary Takamaru. She successfully extracted the badger's chakra and sealed the beast in it's Earth Dimension. She sealed the Earth Chakra into Gary Takamaru. He became the Avatar of Earth from Kaku.

The Dark Village chose Sickus White to extract and seal Eight Tailed Hachimata's Shadow Chakra into newborn Kyoma Akiro. He successfully extracted the snake's chakra and sealed the beast in it's Dark Dimension. After sealing the Shadow Chakra into Kyoma, he passed away of unknown reasons. Kyoma was Hachimata's Avatar of Shadow.

The Fire Village chose Cynthia Lynn to extract and seal Nine Tailed Kyuubi's Fire Chakra into one year old Zain Len. She successfully extracted the fox's chakra and sealed the beast in it's Fire Dimension. The Fire Chakra was sealed into Zain and he became the Avatar of Fire from Kyuubi.

This was the 'Great Beast Extraction. But that's not all that happened. The Ninja Tribunal believed that that would be the end of the Beasts for 70 or more years; they were wrong. The Physical Chakra that was sealed into the Avatars was essentially still the Beasts' and since the Avatars had the Beasts' Physical Chakra, they were the key to the Beasts being let back into our world. So when the Avatars reached a certain age began to use the Beast's chakra, the Beasts were able to come into contact with their Avatar; letting them know they were Avatars.

18 years after The Extraction Shukaku pulled Sorie into the Sand Dimension and told her if she were to serve him, he would give her more power than she could ever have. She let him out but he was sent to the Earth Dimension by Gary then shortly after returned to the Sand Dimension. He never could contact Destiny.

When Ren was 18, Isonade contacted through her dreams and told Ren to free her. When Ren awoke she knew better than to free the Beast. Ren knew the contact through the dream had given full access to the Water Chakra.

Sokou tried to contact Asaso but his head was so messed up from the experimentation, he couldn't comprehend what was going on. He although still had full access to the Toxin Chakra.

Raijuu contacted Miso during one of his training sessions. He asked Miso to watch over the Lightning Elemental Animals and in return he would give Miso full access to his Lightning whenever he needed it. Miso agreed.

Kaku pulled Gary into the Earth dimension while Gary was training. He told Gary to free him and Gary denied. He attacked Gary and tried to make him release him. With the help of a newly hatched Ryu, Gary fended Kaku off but Kaku cursed Gary 'Use too much of my chakra and you'll turn to stone'.

Hachimata pulled Kyoma into Dark Dimension while he dreamed. Hachimata told Kyoma to free him but he denied. They fought and Kyoma defeated him and threatened to kill Hachimata. He cursed Kyoma 'Use too much of my chakra and you'll be sucked in to the void of darkness'

Kyuubi pulled Zain into the Fire Dimension and told Zain to free him. Zain told the Beast he would only free him if he helped Zain become the most powerful Fire Ninja in the world. Kyuubi agreed and Zain gained full access to the Fire Chakra.

Hachimata became so jealous of his defeat, with his remaining 7 tails, he created the 7 Ninja Sins. Pride, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Envy, and Greed. They are human sins manifested, personified, and bound to a undead human body. They were made to target and kill Kyoma but Hachimata's hatred for the other Beasts lived in them and they also targeted the other avatars by their weaknesses. Kyoma, ironically, is the only one who can kill the Sins.

And as you know the power of the Beasts' chakra gives the Avatar access to amazingly powerful Elemental Chakra. And when in extreme emotional distress or their life is in danger, they get the Beast Cloak. A Cloak of pure Elemental Chakra in the shape of their respective Tailed Beast that heals them instantly. There's two drawbacks though, they have only one objective and won't stop until they succeed and when two Beast Cloaked Avatar collide, their cloaks change the environment to suite their element.

Only three Avatars know all this information and all that leads up to now."

Kia was in awe at all the information I had just told her but her mind seemed to process it instantly. "You said there's nine Beasts, you never mentioned Five Tails...and aren't you an Avatar too? What does this have to do with them giving me Wood Style?" she asked curiously. I sat back and looked around the graveyard. This girl was quick, Ren and Gary taught her well. "I am an Avatar. 5 Tailed Houkou of Illusion was never found, he was never a problem so they found no need to find him. You need to know the history of the Avatars because your Wood Style is the only thing that can stop the Avatars if any of us go berserk. Wood Style saps and thrives on Tailed Beast Chakra so they infused you with it and they trained you to defeat of us by our weaknesses." I answered. A look of realization lightened her face. "I get it now. So like when Asaso kidnapped ad tried to kill me. The Forest of Death technique that activated that drained both Destiny and Asaso's chakra." she said "Exactly." I answered. "You're the Avatar of the Two Tailed Death cat, how did your's happen?" she asked. I smiled and told her to follow me. We walked back to the the Statue of Death; I put my hand in the bowl of holy water. "The Villages Death deals with burying and keeping record of the dead. My clan, the Taru Clan, is responsible for guiding lost souls to their resting place. When the Great Beast Extraction came along Nekomata, the Two Tailed Cat Of Death, only wanted to watch over the lost souls. So my parents extracted her Death Chakra and she left to Purgatory. They sealed the Death Chakra into me and I became the Avatar of Nekomata's Death Chakra." I explained. "So how did she contact you?" Kia asked. I released Death Chakra into the holy water. The statue glowed black and a huge purple portal appeared in front of us. I pulled Kia close to me and together we walked through the portal into Purgatory.

"She didn't come to me, I went to her. I have gone to her all my life" Darki said. When we got all the way through the portal I was surprised to her. Nekomata the Two Tailed Cat of Death. She was a gigantic black cat with glowing purple eyes and two long tails. She was laying in what looked like black flames and a bunch of souls flew all around her. I took step closer to Darki; the demon glared at me. "I'm the only Avatar to befriend my Beast." He finished. Nekomata lifted her head "You brought the girl." she said to Darki. "Yeah this is her." I froze. Nekomata knew I was coming; did Darki set me up? The beast walked over, looked down at me, and began sniffling me. I didn't know what to do, she was probably going to eat me and I was scared out of my mind. I was scared until the huge black cat began purring. "I'm sorry for your loss,, Young Takamaru." Nekomata said. "What? Darki, what is she talking about?" I was confused. "My mission was to tell you the events that made us the Avatars: The Tailed Beast War and The Great Beast Extraction. How the Beasts came to us and we gained access to our powers and your role as a Wood Style User in all this. Most importantly Gary also wanted me give you one last chance to see your parents that were eating by Gluttony." My heart dropped. My real parents. Nekomata looked down on me "Are you ready to see them? she asked softly. Tears streamed down my eyes "Yes." I answered.
