The Darkness
For weeks, there had
been reports of a strange man stalking people in our small town. Soon after,
there were cases of random kidnappings of little kids then their mutilated
bodies being found in the woods three days after they went missing. There were
many different beliefs as to why the kids were kidnapped and killed but no
solid evidence other than they were all killed by the same person. No one had
any idea who it was. It sent our town into panic. This had no affect on me
other than to make me wonder who the killer was and if he was like me. That
wonder was put to rest the night my nephew seen him in our house.
It was a cold night; he
was asleep in his room with the T.V. on and woke up when it started to make a
strange noise. The room was unbelievably hot, almost so hot he couldn’t bear
it. After going downstairs to turn the heater down, he returned to his room to
see an intruder. Behind his curtains stood a tall, skinny man, in a black suit
with a red tie, 8 feet tall, long arms, bald with white skin. He said the most
frightening trait was that the man had no face, no nose, eyes, mouth, brows,
nothing. The man moved the curtains open and slowly made his way toward my
nephew, who turned and ran for my room. Before running into my room, he let out
a yelp that alerted me. I hopped out of my bed and readied myself to react to
the threat. He busted in the room and ran onto my bed behind me. When he told
me what had happened I didn’t believe him, no one could've gotten into the
house without us hearing. When I investigated his room there was nothing, no
sign of an intruder but still that sense of evil was still there. I assumed it
was the kidnapper until he explained what he saw. Soon after searching for
answers on what had attacked my nephew; I learned it was the Slender Man. He
had found his way to the woods that surrounded my town and was responsible
kidnapping and killing kids. The supernatural entity was preying on the kids in
my town and finally made his way to my nephew. I knew he wouldn’t stop until he
got him and I wasn’t going to let him.
Night of the Full Moon,
September 30th. The night we would be most powerful.
It was around 9:30 we
had parked on the edge of the woods. “C.D. are you ready?” I asked. He looked
out the car window into the night sky. “Yeah. Let’s do this.” He said. Before I
could say anything else he jumped out of the car and ran into the foggy
darkness. My mind raced with thoughts. For a moment I couldn't believe I was
letting him out into the woods with that thing. The slightest bit of regret ran
through my mind but then remembered there was no time for second thoughts; he
was in the woods and there was no turning back. I got out of the car and
prepared myself.
The air was chilly;
thick with fog and the smell of soil and trees. There was a light mist of
sinister evil creeping from the woods. I looked up into the sky and at the full
moon; the moon was pumping power through my veins and straight into my soul. My
senses were heightened far more than normal. My eyes were drawn to the woods.
In the far distance there was the sound of birds being startled from their
night’s rest in their nests. The mist of evil was now seeping from the deep
within the woods. It was my cue. I ran off into the darkness, headed straight
to where the evil was. The smell of old blood was everywhere, it was
disgusting. The natural green and brown beautiful of the woods was tainted. The
pain and suffering the kids had suffered had endured hideous stained the soil.
It was all soaked in; inscribed in the dirt and wood; almost too much for my
senses to handle. It got stronger the deeper I went; the closer to the evil I
became. The calls of a wolf beckoned me in its direction, so I followed. I ran
tirelessly, I could hear exactly where the wolf was. After awhile another
wolf’s call beckoned me to direction; again I followed. It led me straight to
where I wanted to be. It was a huge coliseum of thick trees soaked in death,
carnage, pain, and suffering. The evil here was so strong I almost couldn't
move. I heard the howl of a wolf from somewhere near the other side of the
coliseum; confirming this was the spot. Inside my nephew groaned. This made me
peek around the trunk of a tree. In moonlight lit the area there hanging from a
tree was C.D., helpless and motionless. Anxiety flushed over me but he was
still alive. My eyes surveyed the gruesome scene, never straying far from my nephew.
This is where he tortured and killed the innocent children. At first the captor
remained hidden but soon enough he showed himself; The Slender Man, an entity
of pure evil. He stood atleast 9 feet tall with long lanky arms and a suit just
as C.D. described. Anxiety rushed me again; I dug my nails into the bark as he
slowly and fluidly neared my nephew. He stopped for a moment, his tall, thin
figure dimly lit in the moonlight, then 6 huge tentacle like appendages
exploded from his back. There was no more waiting for me, if I waited he’d kill
my nephew. Under the Full Moon, I released the feral within. Power rushed over
me as my claws, fangs, muzzle, and tail grew. My fur spouted, muscles expanded,
knees reversed direction, bones shifted inside and I fell forward onto my
hands. Within a matter of seconds, I changed and took my Werewolf form. I
snarled and launched myself into the clearing, landing behind the Slender Man
and howled. He was startled turned around and faced me. C.D. took advantage of
this, turned into his wolf form and escaped Slender Man’s grasp. My howl was
joined by the howl of other the wolves in the surrounding. From between the
gaps in the tree coliseum, six wolves emerged through every direction. My pack
surrounded the Slender Man. He had no escape. Our plan had worked. Under the
cover of night and the power of the Full Moon, my pack would roam the woods as
wolves and wait. I allowed my nephew to run free in the woods, be kidnapped by
the Slender Man and my pack led me to his domain. He stood there with his long
thin arms hanging, tentacles swishing back and forth. It was ominous; we all
bared our fangs and growled. His head slowly turned as if though he was sizing
us up, considering his options. For a long while his head stayed cocked toward
his right as if he found his way out. I took a step forward, stood on my hind
legs and snarled. He turned his pale white face toward me. We faced each other.
We weren't going to let him leave unless he killed us.
I took another step
forward and he didn't budge. For a moment there was no moment and everything
was still. His black tentacles lashed out and whipped me at every angle, I
crossed my arms to defend. A midst the onslaught he reached out with his long
arm, grabbed my throat, and slammed me against a tree. He was stronger than I
had thought. I clawed at his arm but it was no use. His slashes turned to stabs
and each strike pierced my hide. But there was no blood. It felt as if each hit
penetrated my soul; I could feel the pain the children felt. I was drawn in
with each stab flashed the memory of a poor soul he had tortured ran through my
head. The innocent faces, the lives taken. This thing had claimed too many
lives and caused so much pain. It was unbearably paralyzing. In the red barrage
of pain, there was a familiar cry. It wasn't a cry of pain but the cry of
alerting. Over the cries of the pained souls, C.D.’s cry pulled me from the
trance. I grabbed The Slender Man’s wrist and bit down into him. He released me
and doubled back. This was my chance to regain myself . I jumped up and climbed
the tree out of his reach. That’s how he tortured his adult victims; by make
them relive the torture the kids went through. It was truly evil. If he caught
me with that again, he would certainly killed me. I just had to stay out of
range of his tendrils. He regained himself. The pure evil he emitted was now
matched by the power the moon gave me. I stared down at him from the top of the
tree trunk; baring my fangs. His featureless face was turned up toward me; there
was no telling what he would do next. We stared at each other. We faced off
again. The air was filled with the scent of blood, sound of snarling and
growling, and the feel of evil. His tendrils slashed at me twice but I climbed
higher. I dropped down and began a wild attack of slashes but he moved back too
quickly. I lunged again but he knocked me into the trunk of a tree; his long
arm struck out and punched me in the chest. He tried to punch me again but I
ducked and slashed at his arm and he backed off. I retreated to my previous
position in the tree. The Slender Man’s tendrils swerved and lashed out at one
of the wolves in my pack. I launched myself from the tree and slashed the black
tendrils away, then rushed him. I dug my claws into his back and pushed his
face forward into a tree. His tentacles retracted then exploded from his back,
flinging me into the air. He turned around, reached out, and slammed me hard
into the ground. His tentacles hammered me into the ground relentlessly. Every
time I tried to get up he slammed me harder. Finally, I slashed them away and
struggled to get up. He ran at me, tentacles flailing, ready to finish me off.
He was coming at me fast, ready to kill me. When he got close enough, his
tendrils retracted then all stabbed at once. This was my chance, I rolled to
the side and closed the distance between us. My teeth pierced into his throat
and dug my claws into his belly. His tentacles flailed around aimlessly for a
bit then dropped. This was it. I crunched down and ripped his head from his
body. His featureless head hit the ground and rolled. I slammed his body on the
ground, looked up to the moon, and snarled. Under my claws the evil body turned
black powder and blew away in the cold wind. The Slender Man had been destroyed.
I looked to the silver moon and let out savage howl. My howl was joined by my
pack’s. The Slender Man had been destroyed.
